Users retain full control of their private keys throughout every swap. The exchange uses HTLC-based and adaptor-signature atomic swaps across chains, leaving no permanent, linkable records on-chain. A built-in Tor integration protects network-level privacy, and the decentralized SMSG messaging protocol connects peers without any central relay. Supported assets include Bitcoin, Monero, Litecoin, FIRO, Dash, Particl, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, PIVX, and Decred. BasicSwap is still in public beta; setup requires running the desktop software with full or pruned nodes for each supported coin. The only costs are blockchain transaction fees.
